The teachers, parents, students and community members of Valley View Elementary exemplify a focused dedication to educating, nurturing and creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and caring where all students can thrive to reach individual potential in an ever changing society.

Our Vision

We strive to create a well-ordered learning environment sparked with significant sights and sounds in Kindergarten and embellished throughout the grades on a continuum of brain-based, multiple intelligence, interdisciplinary, multicultural learning experiences that build on a challenging and stimulating course of study for all learners, interweaving the arts and technology into the curriculum.

 

School Profile Description

Valley View Elementary School is a kindergarten through Grade 6 elementary school in Local District 4 of the Los Angeles Unified School District.  It is located in Hollywood approximately five miles from Downtown Los Angeles.

Currently, 235 students attend Valley View. Of Valley View’s 235 students 1% are American Indian, 7% are African-American,  4% are Asian, 1% are Filipino, 32% are Latino, and 52% are White (Non-Hispanic).

Ten percent of Valley View students are English Learners and 11% receive Special Education services.  All of Valley View’s English Learners are enrolled in Structured English Immersion programs.  The school administration makes a concerted effort to recruit and hire teachers and paraprofessionals that are proficient and certified in the primary languages of our English Learner students.

Valley View’s Special Education program currently consists of a Resource Specialist program.  The Resource program, which follows a consultation/collaboration model, provides services to 19 students, all of whom spend the entire day in the general education classroom.  In addition, Valley View has 8 identified Gifted and Talented students.

Valley View participates in School Based Coordinated Programs. The school coordinates the services purchased with SLI, EIA-SCE, EIA-LEP, GATE, and special education.

Valley View has 13 certificated personnel on staff.  These include 11 Kindergarten through Sixth Grade general education teachers, 1 special education teachers, 1 instructional coach, and all are fully credentialed.

Each classroom has a wireless internet connection in addition to a Smartboard with a document reader and LCD projector, laptop and IPad for teacher use and instruction. Valley View also has a computer lab with 27 Mac computers.

In addition to the core curriculum that all Valley View students receive, there is a wide range of supplemental programs offered in a variety of settings.  These programs include:
- Vocal Music                                       – Theater program                            – Dance Program
- Physical Education Program                -  Instrumental Music
