ENROLLMENT
To register your child at Valley View you need to present:
• Birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport or other legal document that has the child’s birth date.
• Immunization Record Card. Children must be current with all shots.
o Polio: 4 doses, but 3 doses are enough if at least one was given after the second birthday
o DTP/DTaP/DT/Tdp: 4 or more doses, but one more dose is needed if the last does was given before the second birthday. After the seventh birthday, at least three doses are needed, but one must be on or after the second birthday.
o Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): 2 doses
o Hepatitis B: 3 doses
o Varicella: 1 dose
Those entering school for the first time, for example, Kindergarteners or those from another country or state, must have the Mantoux tuberculosis skin test and proof of a dental check-up within the previous 12 months.
Children must be five years of age on or before December 2nd to enroll in Kindergarten.
Have proof that you live in the area, such as a rental agreement or utility bill (no phone bills). To see if your address falls within the Valley View Elementary district, go to LAUSD School Finder.
Other options such as SAS, work permit, child-care permit and open enrollment are available for out-of-area children. Please speak to the office directly for placement options.
Any new students who previously attended a LAUSD school need to obtain the PAR (Pupil Accounting Report) from the previous school so that the enrollment can be handled through the computer.

• August 8, 2011 – Office Open for Registration
• Permit applications will be approved in mid to late August prior to the beginning of the school year.
• September 7, 2011 – The first day of instruction for the 2011-2012 school year

PARENT TOURS
Valley View Elementary invites you to attend our Parent Tour hosted twice a year. Tours include a presentation and Q&A with Principal Susan Kim followed by a campus tour by our fabulous parent volunteers. Come visit us and see for yourself our wonderful community.
New parent tours will be scheduled for approximately mid-November 2011 and mid-March 2012.

INCOMING KINDER EVENTS
We host a number of Kinder playdates to facilitate transitioning Kinders and their parents into their new school. We hope that attending these will make your child’s transition into Kindergarten easier. It’s a chance for our new parents to meet other new parents and set up playdates for the summer. Current VVE parents will be in attendance with their children to answer questions and make you feel more welcome.
Our first incoming playdate will be August 6th. Check the calendar for details.
PARENT MENTORSHIP
Not just for new Kinder parents, we want to make welcome parents of children in all grades. To help you through the transition into our school, let us connect you to another Valley View parent with a child of a similar age who can answer your questions and concerns, perhaps set up a playdate to lessen your child’s anxiety.
