FIELD TRIPS, WORKSHOPS AND ASSEMBLIES
Our PTA endeavors to provide three field trips for each grade level at Valley View to enrich the education experience of all of our children. Additional Workshops and Assemblies for multiple grade levels provide additional educational opportunities for our children.

Last year’s field trips included an educational trip to JPL for our 5th and 6th graders and Aquarium of the Pacific for our 2nd graders. And our Kindergarteners were treated to a trip to Audubon Center at Deb’s Park for bird watching and hiking! This year’s first field trip, paid for with PTA funds, will be the 3rd grade trip to the Museum of Natural History in late October.
Valentine’s Animal Show is a favorite workshop of the students every year. Mr. Valentine delights the children by teaching them about a variety of spiders, snakes, frogs and other reptiles and amphibians they can touch and hold. But the favorite is always a wallaby he brings in a backpack! Some of the workshops brought to students last year were Side Street Woodworking and Mad Science.
This year’s first assembly, provided by a generous grant from California Institute of Contemporary Arts, will be Japanese Festival Sounds. Providing an introduction to Japanese music and culture, Johnny Mori and his company perform on taiko drums and other ancient and contemporary instruments that vary in size from small handheld implements to drums several feet in diameter.
