CAMPUS WATCH OVER THE BREAK
Our beloved campus often turns into a skateboard park on weekends, with unruly miscreants moving benches and tables to use as obstacles, marking and destroying them, urinating in the bushes and leaving a mess that Mr. Milton has to clean up each week. You can find video of these skateboarders online proudly displaying their illegal break-ins to our school by doing stunts off the flat roof and other obstacles they create, without regard for our school property.
Last weekend, our garden storage bins were broken into. Stolen were various garden tools we need to maintain the campus as well as the wily Liam the Leprechaun, who has graced our garden for many years. Hard to believe someone would take an obviously well-loved children’s icon.
The police department has been called, many times. They refer us to the school police. It takes several hours for someone to arrive, often hours after the hoodlums have left. But keep trying! The more calls we log, the more likely the district will be pushed into a better solution.
So we ask you over the summer break, during your travels, as you pass near the school, swing by and take a peek. If you see skateboarders or others on our campus, please call the school police at 213-625-6631.
